SmartGen | Application of HMU15N-EMS Controller and HESS Cabinet in a Microgrid Project

In today’s energy field, with the rapid development of renewable energy and the gradual spread of control technology, microgrid as a new energy supply is emerging. The microgrid is developed to achieve self-balance, self-management and self-adjustment, and it supports multiple operation modes, such as island mode, minimum operation mode, economical mode, orderly power consumption mode and demand response mode.

SmartGen HESS Cabinet and Hybrid Energy Controller (HMU15N-EMS) were applied in an industrial park to build an equipment test platform for the park.

Project Site

This project is a microgrid system consisting of wind power, solar system, energy storage, diesel generator and mains. SmartGen Hybrid Energy Controller (HMU15N-EMS) can realize intelligent switching and priority definition functions among various energy sources in the microgrid, providing customers with various and customized microgrid applications.

Overall System Diagram

SmartGen HESS cabinet (HESS307-15-AK) is applied in the project. It is a customized model, which integrates HV control module, battery pack, BMS modules (HBCU200, HBMU200), EMS controller (HMU15N-EMS), power integrated protection module (HMP300), battery charger (BAC06A-24V), and genset parallel controller (HGM9510). All these essential modules and controllers are self-developed.
