Time flies, I am thirty-seven years old this year. In several different companies, I contribute the passion of youth or live in a state of ignorance. Over ten years has passed after graduation, time is fleeting.
On July 10th, I formally joined SmartGen.
Although I only work a few days, I had several informal chats with Chairman Yang by chance. Perhaps it is a long time to engage in production management and I have more contact with militarized management. For the conversation of leaders, I always consciously tell what is the command and what is demand. However, to my surprise, Mr. Yang often talk to me about The Tao.
Mr. Yang seriously connects The Tao with national self-confidence and company management philosophy, speaks with fervour and assurance, at that time, I am shocked. It seems that the shock doesn’t stimulate me enough, Mr. Yang continues to say,” I also wrote a book about The Tao, give you this book as a gift.” I have to admit, at that moment, I feel like that I am too naive even though I am thirty-seven. This leader treats The Tao very seriously.
The Tao, Way to Evergreen is very thick. After reading the preface and author’s preface, the words in chats are present in the book in front of me. I can feel the learned and refined, natural and unrestrained of Mr. Yang as a writer. I can feel the capable and experienced, wise and farsighted of Mr. Yang as the enterprise leader. I can feel the national self-confidence of Mr. Yang as the traditional culture researcher. I think this book is really worth reading carefully.
I had read a few sentences about The Tao curiously long time ago. The sentences always read rhythmic, but the meaning is hard to understand. Especially for some popular idioms or sentences, such as “The Tao cannot be depicted exactly because of the constrain of verbal description”, “Nature is absolutely fair and not merciful for any species specially”, “The universe is eternal”, “The best people are like water”, in addition to the inexplicable worship sense for ancient, I really didn’t have more feelings.
However, in Mr. Yang’s book, in the sharing session of Yang’s The Tao, the ideas of the ancient sages, the exposition about the Confucian, Buddhist and western ancient philosophers, all of them corroborate each other skillfully and particularly. This makes me feel that I have a sense of achievement and pride because I can feel the spirits of master’s thought. From the philosophical thinking of ancients, I have found some words or examples that can warn or encourage us. Perhaps we still cannot totally understand the language of the saints, but with help of The Tao, Way to Evergreen, we can taste the fragrance of wisdom in easy and humorous language of the book.
Learning The Tao is not only learning the book, but learning thinking and life. A book, your feeling and the sharing session, help us open up a new world.
In the future, it depends on ourselves.
